SHEBEEN ESCAPE ACADEMY

A rural based skills Development and Technical Education Centre offering 21st century employability and soft skills for youths to move from zero to Hero. After establishing the Ongula Village Homestead Lodge and Campsite in Ohangwena region of Northern Namibia the Nghiwete family decided that as part of the lodges corporate social responsibility, they would turn the current community Multi-purpose and development centre into a skill Development and Technical Education Academy to inspire out of school youths to escape the prevalent “shebeen culture”. and access technical education

X-CAPE” (ESCAPE) SHEBEENS

The Academy targets youths and adolescent early school leavers whose household main sources of income is either social grants from their parents/gurdians or income from the informal economy (such as shebeens/ open markets / mobile trading/ domestic work).

The academy aims to embrace the local culture of assisting each other to provide access to vocational training and multipurpose centre where youths , adolescent girls can benefit from simple yet transformative initiatives.
